In addition to several local taxi firms, there are buses running right past the Jolly Farmers and the Kirkby Stephen railway station is on the beautiful Settle-Carlisle line.

There is a great selection of pubs and restaurants in the town, including the Old Forge and the Century Chinese. Good food can also be had in some of the nearby villages, including the Black Bull at Nateby and the Bay Horse in Winton.
